An Untapped Potential, A Cycle of Risk
Commercial motorcycle taxis are the backbone of African urban mobility, but the informal nature of the sector creates a cycle of risk and instability for both riders and the public.
- Safety Crisis: High accident rates due to lack of training and safety gear.
- Economic Instability: Riders are vulnerable, with no access to credit, insurance, or ownership.
- Eroding Trust: Lack of regulation and accountability damages public confidence.

"Getting to interact much with bike riders will bring it clear to you that there may be no one around who enjoys doing a job like those guys. The fact that they hardly forget people, they know many things about many people and they are always available to work even if it means working on credit. Getting a bike rider to run some sweet errands for you seems very swift π I don't know how but these guys should be given their accolades. That should be fully established as a profession even if it means putting up an insurance cover for them. It means a lot to appreciate the services they render to the community."
